Background

The DASH for Dialysis relay race is approximately 117km long, beginning at Jeremy Nipshank Park in Calling Lake, AB, proceeding north on Hwy 813, through the community of Sandy Lake (Sakitawasihk reserve 166), Ka-asinskasihk reserve 166A and finishing at the George D Auger Hall in Wabasca, AB.

This relay race will consist of multiple teams running 12 sections with up to 12 walkers/runners on each team. Participants may run one or multiple sections.

Improving health outcomes is a shared priority and in collaboration with Alberta Kidney Care North, we will be creating enhanced knowledge, awareness and education on kidney disease in the community of Wabasca.

In the fall of 2024, a non-profit committee was formed made up of members from the Bigstone Health Commission, MD of opportunity, Alberta Health Services and other community stakeholders.

This will be our first annual DASH for Dialysis Relay Race on Saturday September 20, 2025.
